Terms of the award
The Orfeón Donostiarra and the University of the Basque Country created this award through a shared agreement in the year 2001 with two aims: To offer incentives and to encourage musical research; and to publicly acknowledge the work and careers of personalities or entities that have been outstanding in the world of music.
The award is annual in nature, the call for applications coinciding with the academic year of the UPV/EHU, and it involves a prize of 2000 euros, for the purpose of encouraging musical research.
On occasion of the annual research award ceremony, the work and career of a personality or entity that is prominent in the world of music will be publicly acknowledged.
Any person who wishes to can participate in the call for applications, without limitations. The research work can be approached from any of the academic perspectives that form part of the university’s activity (doctoral theses, final year project, etc.). The corresponding work shall be submitted in paper format, in duplicate, and in electronic format to the offices of the Orfeón Donostiarra and/or to the Vice Chancellor’s office at the UPV/EHU Gipuzkoa Campus on the dates indicated for each call for applications, along with the research paper presentation form which can be downloaded from the website of the Orfeón and of the UPV/EHU or which can be requested from both entities.
It may be written in any of the languages of the Basque cultural landscape.
With regard to the public acknowledgement of the work and career of the personalities or entities that have been outstanding in the world of music, the promoting entities will present the corresponding curricula, in any of the languages of the Basque cultural landscape, at the offices of the Orfeón Donostiarra and/or the Vice Chancellor’s office at the UPV/EHU Gipuzkoa Campus.
The jury, chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the UPV/EHU Gipuzkoa Campus, will be formed by four members designated by the Monitoring Commission of the Agreement signed by both institutions. The jury will decide on its rules of operation and will freely designate a Secretary.
The jury’s decision will be made during the second term of the academic year. It shall not be subject to appeal. The award may be declared void. The handing over of the award shall be carried out during an official event at the university Campus of Gipuzkoa.
Without prejudice to the rights of the authors, the papers submitted may be published or disseminated via electronic means or on paper by both the UPV/EHU and the Orfeón Donostiarra.
The deadline for this call for the presentation of the investigation work and/or the curricula of the personalities whose careers it is proposed to acknowledge shall be 31 December.
